Doty named vice president of railcar marketing January, 2000 - Chicago, IL - James K. Doty has been promoted to the position of vice president, railcar marketing for Union Tank Car Company. The announcement was made by Frank D. Lester, president. In this position, Doty has marketing responsibility for the leasing and sales of new railroad tank cars built at Union Tank Car's plants in East Chicago, IN and Sheldon, TX and plastics covered hopper cars built by Thrall Car. He will also be responsible for the sales of interior coatings for new tank and hopper cars. Doty joined Union Tank Car in 1980 in the planning and market development group where he was promoted to director in 1981. Since 1986, he has been corporate director, marketing. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Rutgers University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
