Union Tank Car Acquires EXSIF April 1999 - Union Tank Car Company has acquired EXSIF SA, a major lessor of ISO tank containers, and its U.S. subsidiary, EXSIF, US. The acquisition gives Union Tank Car an immediate presence in the intermodal marketplace and a new product line that can benefit its existing customers that ship bulk liquids and compressed gasses overseas. EXSIF, based in Versailles, France, with offices in Houston, Texas, owns and/or manages approximately 2,000 tank containers ranging in capacity from 13,000 to 26,000 liters. The fleet includes IMO I, II and V classes as well as specialized alloy steel tanks and tanks with interior coatings. All the tank containers are built and maintained to ISO standards that are accepted worldwide.
