Employees at Anacortes and Texas City Help BP, Bayer &
Tesoro Win the BNSF Stewardship Award
Union Tank Car
customers BP in Texas City, and Pasadena, Texas; Bayer in
Baytown, Texas; and Tesoro in Anacortes, Washington, were
recently awarded the Stewardship Trophy from the BNSF Railroad
and they all send their thanks to UTC.
Ronnie Hazzard of BP - Texas City says he has Ritch Perkins,
Dick Latimer and crew to thank. Gary Ragan of BP - Pasadena
adds "the BNSF has over 700 customers and less than 50
were given this award. Thanks for the work of Denver
Christian, Ruben Romero, Al Rodea and Red Delegarza for
sending all those cars out right and tight!"
This award is given to shippers who demonstrate a commitment
to Responsible Care principles and the Product Stewardship
Code in the inspection, maintenance, loading and securement of
hazardous materials in their tank cars. BP shipped thousands
of chemical cars with no release of regulated hazardous
material due to non-accidental causes.
Kerry Barnes in logistics operations at Tesoro says "We
safely moved 989 loaded tanks cars in the year 2000 with no
release of regulated hazardous material due to non-accident
causes. This is due to the excellent support we get from Cal
and his team. Your attention to detail, helpful advice,
willingness to help, and can-do attitude enable us to maintain
our excellent record, contribute to safeguarding the public
and environment. We appreciate the service you give us every
day."
Sean Ritchie of Bayer had equally impressive praise for John
Campbell and crew. "UTC's mobile crew helps us present
products to our customers in a way that meets our high
standards for quality, on-time delivery and safety while
protecting the environment and winning awards like this."
