Union Tank Car's home office has leased approximately 50,000 square feet on the 21st floor of the 175 West Jackson Building nicknamed "The Giant." The historic and architecturally significant building is currently undergoing a major renovation.

"There were many reasons for relocating," explained President Frank Lester. "This building covers a whole city-block, so 'The Giant' as the building is called, offered us the opportunity to get all Chicago employees on one floor. Previously, employees spanned three floors. This not only helps us improve inter-departmental communication, it better organizes us to work physically closer and more effectively together."

State-of-the-art communications wiring; and full-coverage fire sprinklers makes the new offices efficient and safe.

Union Tank Car's corporate office occupied its offices at 111 West Jackson for 38 years. In fact, UTC was the first occupant of the building.
