Information Prior to Ordering

  1. A credit check will be done on all potential lessees, and a contract agreement will be signed before the first car can ship.
  2. All cars are furnished subject to inspection and acceptance by the lessee. Loading of the car will constitute acceptance.
  3. Rental rate for each car is on a per car per month basis which covers the rail car only.
  4. Rental and Mileage begin the date of forwarding to the customer and continue until the car arrives back to the origin point.
  5. Railroads allow 106 empty miles for every 100 loaded miles that a car travels. Any empty miles in excess of 106% of the loaded miles are billed at $.38 per mile and is the lessee's responsibility.
  6. If your agreement to ship the cars with the railroads is on a contract basis, then no mileage credit is earned, however, the 106% empty mileage rule still applies.
    • If your cars are on a mileage paying basis with the railroad, the cars will earn a specified amount per mile.
    • Loaded mileage credits can apply up to the monthly rental.
  7. Occasionally, cars will have to be shopped for bad order conditions and/ or maintenance. Normally, when this shopping is required and is owners responsibility, bad order credit against the rental will be allowed, however, empty miles into and out of shop is for the lessee.
  8. Upon return of the cars they may be inspected to determine if there is lessee responsibility including missing material, corrosion, or any additional cleaning.
  9. Normally cars must be returned in a cleaned condition by lessee.
