New Reports Help UTLX Lessees Monitor Out-of-Service Cars

June 1, 2001

Here's e-Business news you can put to work.

Union Tank Car Company, and its Canadian affiliate, Procor, have implemented two railcar fleet intelligence tools to help UTLX lessees make utilization decisions when their tank car or plastics hopper is shopped for maintenance, repair or testing. The daily Shop Status Report pushes current progress data to you via E-mail or fax. And, when your car is ready, the Release from Shop Document is automatically generated to advise of the car's return to service.

These two new fleet management messages are now available to all UTLX customers who have password-protected accounts through Link-Net, Union Tank Car's website-based source for car management information. Reports can be delivered to anyone in your distribution chain that you designate. In addition, you can choose the frequency and timing of the reports.

All of the regular Link-Net information, (shop status, projects, coating data, re-qualification, rider information and mechanical features count), that you are familiar with is still available on-line.

Link-Net is accessed through the UTLX.com website. It provides a secure link to mechanical and leasing information for UTLX-leased tank cars and plastics hoppers. Access requires a profile and password available free to all Union Tank Car lessees. To sign up visit the web site. The form is located in the Link-Net section of the site, or call Bill Hansen, e-business director, for more information at 312.431.5030.
