Water Filtration
Light liquid residual commodities like AV fuel, diesel, and gasoline require a much less intensive tank car cleaning process. The ProTecht Water Filtration Cleaning System, uses pressurized water from a 3D rotary orbital sprayer. The sprayer rotates a full 360 degrees and follows a preset cleaning cycle pattern to wet down the entire tank car interior in less than 20 minutes. The highly reliable sprayer is easily installed in the manway of the tank car, eliminating the need to have an individual enter the tank car. The patented water filtration system filters the effluent and removes impurities and solids from the waste stream allowing the purified process water to be reused for cleaning of additional tank cars. This proprietary closed loop system enables the ProTecht Water Filtration Cleaning System to clean many more tank cars, without needing stop and refill water or offload effluent.

Steam Injection
Some commodities, like midgrade distillates with minor scaling like corn oil, condensates, lube oil, and others require steam injection cleaning to remove any contamination from the tank car. The ProTecht Steam Injection Cleaning System, is a cleaning process that can reach temperatures of up to 350°F (180°C), while still meeting the Kosher tank car cleaning requirement of least 180°F (82°C). If needed, a chemical injection can be added after the steam injection process. With hoses that can extend up to 200 ft., this mobile tank car steam cleaning system is entry-less and designed to simultaneously clean two tank cars at once, enabling more tanks cars to be cleaned in less time.
All ProTecht Steam Injection Tank Car System cleanings are done to Kosher certification standards. If tank car Kosher cleaning is required, a Kosher wipe down is performed. This is done when the tank car has been steam cleaned, properly ventilated and is checked to ensure the internal temperature has been reduced to safe levels for entry for a technician to perform the wipe.

Automated Cannon
The ProTecht Automated Cannon Cleaning System is for heavy commodities and solidified tank car heels. The star of this patented tank car cleaning system is the water cannon with high impact jet stream, that sprays water, solvent, and detergent with the strength to shoot over 200 ft. The cannon comes equipped with a video camera and light, allowing autonomous use by an operator located at ground level, ensuring no hazardous confined space entry into the tank car. The cannon is designed for railcar heel removal by breaking down and emulsifying the solidified heels left by heavy commodities. A cleaning solvent is used to ensure removal of all hydrocarbon-based deposits. The powerful cannon effectively removes internal deposits and cleans tank cars faster than other technologies, greatly reducing overall cleaning time.
Additionally, this method filters the wastewater with a filtration system, that separates water, solvent, cleaner and waste, allowing the water, solvent and cleaner to be reused for the next tank car cleaning – saving resources, time and money. Once the tank car heel has been removed, the operator will remotely switch the cannon from solvent spray to detergent spray to start cleaning the tank car. The detergent is an alkaline based solution used to remove scaling and residual product left over from the solvent cleaning phase. Finally, the water cannon switches to a water-only washdown, providing a final rinse to complete the tank car cleaning process.
